Life with Jesus

Jesus is with me every hour, every day,

Guiding me, leading me,  showing the way.

Since I decdied to believe on his name,

Nothing in life has ever been the same.

The addictions I suffered are soothed by his hand

My anguish of heart drifted off like fine sand.

I live every moment with

When Prayer is too Hard

I am by nature a “word” person.  I’ve been chattering away my entire life and covering reams of paper with words ever since I learned to touch type; so it surprised me when the despair of a long, extremely difficult period in my life left me wordless. I was desperate for solace from the

Zip Line Evangelization at Super Bowl Village

I was in downtown Indy yesterday for a business meeting, and I walked through Super Bowl Village on my way back to my car.  There was a large zip line going high above the street for 2 blocks.  The church facing the zip line, St. John the Evangelist, got very creative with this sign

It’s Only a Quarter

Several years ago a preacher moved to Houston, Texas. Some weeks after he arrived, he had occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him a quarter too much change. As he considered what to do, he thought

I Saw Him in Church for the First Time

I saw him in the church building for the first time on Wednesday. He was in his mid-70′s, with thinning silver hair and a neat brown suit. Many times in the past I had invited him to come to church. Several other Christian friends had talked to him about the Lord and had tried

I Never Liked My Grandpa

After I finished reading this one, I knew I had to pass it on. Some times we never know if the love we show to others is really getting through or not. But God’s love always does.

It is easy to love those who love you back, but the true test of love is

His Name is John

His name is John. He has wild hair, wears a T-shirt with holes in it, jeans and no shoes. This was literally his wardrobe for his entire four years of college. He is brilliant. Kinda esoteric, and very, very bright. He became a Christian while attending college.

Across the street from the campus is

God’s Man at Bearcat Tool and Die

Bill had to “bleep” the machine shop conversations he recounted to his wife. Centerfolds taped above a metal lathe caught his eye several times a day. Payday usually found Bill and his buddies eyeing the dancer at the Batman A-Go-Go and having a few rounds too many before getting home in the wee hours.

Gone Fishing

My Son’s voice was fading. Head leaning against the back of the opened fold-up chair, I faced the warmth of the morning sun. Legs stretched out, I propped my feet on top of the fence that kept small children and adults alike from dropping and flaying in the waters that surrounded the small metal
